spring is approaching and so are the big name acts…
Spring is almost here! We’ve pushed our clocks ahead one hour, it’s getting warmer here in New York, the snow is gone (hopefully!), and the big time musicians are getting ready for their spring/summer tours. Everyone from Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel to The Police and Jimmy Buffett have either started their tours or are about to hit the road. Ticket prices will again be souring, but fans will come in droves to see their favorite acts.
I feel sad to think that some of these great artists only have a few more years left in them (take that with a grain of salt as musicians have been known to seriously overstay their welcome). As these musicians wind down their careers, where are we classic rock fans supposed to turn? I know I can count on U2 for at least a few more years, but that’s about it. Don’t get me wrong, I like the occasional rap, pop, and even “emo” song..but I just can’t get into those types of music as a genre. My taste is classic rock and roll. A band that can have you dancing in the aisles one song, blow you away with a guitar riff in another, and have you crying with a beautiful ballad in the encore.
I am going to have to start looking at new bands, probably unsigned bands, to get my classic rock and roll fix. Over the next couple months, I will try to discover new bands in an attempt to keep my rockin good times alive for years to come!
