Google is about to launch their social networking platform OpenSocial. Lots of different chatter about it, integration and implications for it.  I am not going to summarize OpenSocial, but I will say that it has pretty major implications for the social web. And few companies have already begun integrating it into their existing applications.

Ironically, a few weeks ago I posted about wanting to have all my social identitiy stuff in one place - like OpenID. Open Social takes that much further and provides a solid platform for social network(s) integration.

Are we going to integrate OpenSocial?  Without a doubt - yes. Will it be today - probably not - although I am not sure. Since we’re doing such a big set of changes for 2.0, we might wait until then - and I am not 100% sure our current platform would work correctly with it (but it might).

That said, in our 2.0 fully distributed platform - with OpenSocial tied in - that could be extremely cool.
